During my first year of studying law, I learned a latin phrase that really stuck with me. It was not just because this phrase was quite small and thus easier to remember, but mostly because of what a profound message it carried.
The latin phrase in question was this: Tempus Fugit.
It means "time flies".
Time really does fly, because it never stands still. Whether you want it or not and whether you like it or not, time continues to move forward (unless you are Doctor Strange or happen to have that magical Eye...).
Fiction aside, time is one universal fact that doesn't change for anything, or anyone. Rich or poor, tall or short, handsome or average, white or black, time doesn't give anyone any sort of preferential treatment.
Time moves on... consistently, continuously, tirelessly.
This is why the most valuable resource in the world is time, because no amount of money in the world can buy you more time.
Most people use this as a prompt to do more in their professional lives, but that's a big mistake because pursuing professional achievements isn't what life is all about. In fact, one of the biggest regrets (based on research of people in their deathbeds) was not enjoying life more.
So, don't just use your time in terms of maximizing your work or business results, use them to really enjoy your life too.
You need balance.
There needs to be balance, because solely or even primarily focusing on just one area will leave you with regrets about the other. This balance, ultimately, is how you will really get the most out of your time.
Make the most of your time, because once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Make your time matter,
Salek
