Do you want to enjoy your life more?
Then do this one thing…
Start cutting yourself some slack.
One of the biggest reasons why we get stressed or feel tons of pressure or even feel bad is because of the amount of pressure we put on ourselves.
We are our worst critic.
This is true for pretty much everyone. Whether you know it or not, you are always measuring yourself, and your results, based on different internal parameters and values.
Most of the time those values are completely arbitrary, and may even be completely unknown to you (consciously that is, but your subconscious mind knows...).
What's more, most of these values of success (and failure) are ones that you pick up from your parents, relatives, friends, the people around you, and even media and social media.
This is one fo the reasons why scrolling social media has been found to be a big factor for causing depression. You can look up the research about it if you want to find out more about that.
The point though is that we are our biggest judges, and our life generally gets harder based on how critical we are of ourselves. This is a big reason why life is hard. It's not just because life is unpredictable or some other factor, but mostly because of the judge and jury inside of us passing judgements about whether we measure up or not.
But there is a simple solution: simply practice being more patient with yourself.
Here's a tip on how you can do that. Next time you do something or end up with a result that is makes you feel bad about yourself and makes you feel like you don't measure up or even that you are not good enough, think about how you would respond if a friend was saying that to you.
What you will find is that you will be kinder, more understanding, and more patient. That's just how we are. We are generally more patient with others (especially friends and family) than we are with our own selves.
And you can use that mental hack to make your own life at least a bit simpler, easier, and happier.
Cut yourself some slack, and start enjoying your life more. You only have one life, so you might as well enjoy it.
Enjoy life,
Salek
