No one likes uncertainty.
Uncertainty is confusing, it can be frustrating, and most of all... it can be scary.
However, trying to control every aspect doesn't work.
Even though in theory that seems like a good way to tackle uncertainty, in practice it doesn't work.
Why doesn't it work?
It doesn't work because there are just no guarantees in life, and most things in life are completely outside our control.
This can be one of the hardest lessons you learn about life (it was for me), because that means admitting that you don't have much control in your own life.
This seems terrible, but doesn't have to be, because the reality is that not trying to control everything is actually a blessing in disguise.
Trying to control every part of your life is exhausting work, not to mention impossible. But when you let go, and stop trying to control every aspect of your life, it makes your life easier, simpler, and even happier.
Trying to control your life is one of the biggest sources of stress since not everything can go according to your plans, no matter how much you want or try. That's just how life works.
Certainty is great, but it's impossible to have certainty about everything.
A better way to live life is to roll with the punches, and be flexible. That makes your life less stressful, and that approach also makes you better able to deal with things if and when things don't quite go according to plan.
Planning is good, but being rigid about your plans is not. This is why the people in the know don't just have one plan, they often have plans and backup plans, because they know that there are no guarantees in life.
Plan and be flexible, but don't try to control everything.
Live your life to the fullest,
Salek
